What is a Direct Support Professional (DSP)?
Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) at Jay Nolan Community Services assist individuals with autism and other intellectual and/or developmental disabilities to live a meaningful and valued role in their community.
Similar to a caregiver, DSPs help people build relationships, live safely in their own homes, and accomplish their greater personal, educational, and career goals.
Unlike a caregiver, DSPs "Do with, not for" the person they support by encouraging them to do whatever they can independently.
What kind of DSP jobs are available at Jay Nolan Community Services?
Community Facilitation
Providing support outside of the home by assisting individuals in their community, during their activities and hobbies, and with relationship building.
Job Coach
Helping individuals find and keep a job in their community by identifying their talents, interests and goals and helping them look for a job with coaching and training.
ILS & Supported Living
Providing support in the home where an individual lives by assisting them to accomplish their daily activities, including cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping, and hobbies.
Roommate / Overnights
Living with or staying overnight with an individual to provide ongoing support if and when they require assistance during evenings and overnights.
